Car Enthusiasts Gather at Genesee for Third Annual Super Cruise at the College

Cruisers from across Western New York will be gathering at Genesee Community College in Batavia to display their hotrods and superchargers in a free, family event this Sunday, July19. The third annual Super Cruise at the College hosts “cruising” cars, motorcycles, and trucks from across the region with an array of local vendors, prizes, food options and entertainment from1:00 to 5:00 PM.

“GCC’s expansive parking lots and the central location between Buffalo and Rochester make this Super Cruise a perfect location for auto enthusiast and vehicles of all kinds, years, makes and models,” Ben Canham, one of the event organizers, said.

Among the cars, trucks and bikes will be an assortment of summer-time refreshments. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates, a non-profit group) will be sponsoring the chicken barbecue; the Batavia Lions Club will be selling hotdogs and hamburgers; the Batavia Area Jaycees will provide a popcorn stand; Pauly’s Pizzeria will be selling pizza; and G’s Ice Cream will be on hand with ice cream treats.

Other family-friendly attractions include a chance to see Ultra Lights and unique remote-controlled flying machines flown by the Batavia RC Flying Club. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day. Dash plaques courtesy of Visual Impact, and goody bags will be given to the first 200 cruisers. Musical entertainment will be provided by Hank Nevins, courtesy of Ken Barrett Chevrolet and O-At-Ka Milk Products, Inc. Stan’s Harley Davidson will have a variety of motorcycles on display, the Genesee Community College CEO Club will be sharing samples of Scholar’s Brand Apple Cider Syrup, ESD Expressions will be selling pre-made and personalized pin-back buttons, the Town of Batavia Fire Department will be selling raffle tickets for a Harley Davidson motorcycle, the East Pembroke Fire Department will also be selling raffle tickets for a new four-wheeler and Ken Barrett Chevrolet will provide a car-of-the-future display.

“This year’s Super Cruise is promised to be better than ever,” said Rick Ensman, Genesee Community College’s Director of External Affairs. “It’s a great summer event that many of our ‘cruisers’ look forward to each year.”

There is no admission or entry fee for Super Cruise at the College, however organizers are encouraging donations for Genesee’s Transportation Scholarships. This fund helps student commuters who have unmet transportation problems that sometimes prohibit them from attending classes or working toward earning a degree. Tickets for a 50/50 raffle benefiting the Genesee Community College Emergency Transportation Fund will also be on sale throughout the afternoon.
