Genesee's Albion Campus Center Hosts Student Art Show

GO-Art! Satellite Gallery in Action
Genesee Community College’s Albion Campus is hosting a Student Art Show with an opening reception on Thursday, April 30, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. The show features a variety of mixed media pieces and subjects.

The spring Student Art Show at the Albion Campus will feature the works of students currently enrolled in art instructor Karen Todd’s Introduction to Visual Arts classes and the Painting I and II classes. One of the introduction sections is comprised of area high school students enrolled in Genesee’s ACE (Accelerated College Enrollment) program. Works of art consist of pencil drawings, ink drawings, collages, watercolor paintings, and acrylic paintings. There are self-portraits, classic still-life drawings, animals, abstracts and famous artist studies. All works exhibited have been produced in class since the beginning of the semester in January. The students range in age from 16-56!

The exhibit, which is open to the public, will run through May 14. The Albion Campus Center is now a Genesee Regional Arts Council (GO-ART!) Satellite Gallery and the art works are available for public viewing from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Mondays through Thursdays, and on Fridays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Albion Campus is located at 456 West Avenue (Route 31) in the Village of Albion.

The next show will be Arthur Barnes’ “Nocturnal Landscapes”, which opens on May 26 with a reception on June 4 from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. A collection of new water color paintings by local artist Arthur Barnes will be featured in the show.
