Edgar and Mary Louise Hollwedel Named Encore 2008 Chairs

Save the Date! Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 6:00pm
Edgar and Mary Louise Hollwedel of Pavilion have been named chairpersons of this year's Encore celebration, an annual event that supports student scholarships at Genesee Community College, Genesee Community College Foundation President John Dwyer announced. This year's holiday tradition is Wednesday, December 3, 2008 starting at 6:00 PM. The festivities begin with a Gala Reception and continue with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) performing in the Stuart Steiner Theatre at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York.

"Encore is the one event all year long that everyone looks forward to. It is a festive evening featuring great music and great food with the old friends - some we haven't seen in months or even since last year's Encore! It kicks off the holiday season perfectly." Mrs. Hollwedel said. "And it's all in the spirit of supporting the education of students in our community."

The Hollwedels are residents of Pavilion and supporters of many civic organizations - from the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce to GCASA (Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse). They are also well known for Lei-Ti Recreation Resort and Campgrounds, the family business which they began in 1971 and operated for 29 years. Although Lei-Ti is still in family hands, Mr. and Mrs. Hollwedel retired from active management in 2000.

Through much of his career, Mr. Hollwedel served as a senior administrator with the Rochester City School District, responsible for adult and occupational education. He retired from the district in 1986. Prior to his service with the Rochester City School District, Mr. Hollwedel was an administrator with Erie County Board of Cooperative Educational Services.

Beautiful music and an appreciation of local community spirit will be live and on stage at Genesee Community College on December 3, and the Hollwedels hope everyone will save the date. In addition to the holiday pops performance by the RPO, there will be pre-concert music at the Gala Reception and the evening's concludes with delicious holiday desserts and coffee after the concert.
