GCC Baseball Team Drops Home Opener

On Thursday April 10, 2008, the Genesee Community College baseball team dropped both games of a double header with Corning CC at Dwyer Stadium. The team came off two wins on Wednesday against Onondaga Community College pounding out 21 runs, but could only put together two runs against Corning. Both runs came in the first game of double header as GCC went on to lose 7-2. Chris Page (Batavia, NY) and Dominick Garcia (Buffalo, NY) were both 2-4 for the team.

In game two, the team gave up five runs in one inning on no hits and lost the game 6-0. Page had two hits for the team while Brandon Lindsley (Chaffee, NY) came in and pitched four shoot-out inning for the Cougars baseball team.

Sherman commented on the loss, “I am disappointed with our effort today after doing so well in yesterday’s game. Right now, we are a very inconsistent team with no identity. We are searching for everything right now and are still lucky we are in the beginning part of our season.”

The team is currently 9-7 overall and 4-4 in Region III play. Sherman has a very young squad and he says “we are more athletic than ever and are not performing up to our ability.”

The Cougars play their next scheduled game on Saturday April 12, 2008 against Hudson Valley with the first pitch at 1pm.
