Dean of Genesee's BEST Center and Campus Centers Receives SUNY Chancellor's Award

Jerry A. Kozlowski, Dean of The BEST Center and Campus Centers at Genesee Community College is the recipient of the prestigious State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service for academic year 2005 - 2006. Mr. Kozlowski received the honor in recognition of his leadership and outreach activities provided consistently for the past six years.

Kozlowski has been a dynamic force at Genesee since 2000 when he came on board as a faculty member in the business department. In 2002, he helped develop and found the new BEST Center, where he continues to serve as the first dean. Genesee Community College’s Business Employee Skills Training division has experienced significant growth since it opened it doors. It has trained more than 22,900 individuals from approximately 1,600 area groups and businesses. It has obtained nearly $1,100,000 in economic development training grants from a broad range of sources. The BEST Center’s state-of-the-art conferencing capabilities have become a distinguished meeting facility situated between the two metropolitan areas of Buffalo and Rochester.  

This past year, Kozlowski also assumed a managerial role over the network of Genesee’s five campus centers which serve the four-county GLOW region. As Dean of the Campus Centers, Kozlowski’s new territory includes Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties, covering a 2,400 square mile area, employing over 20 people, and accounting for about one-quarter of the College’s total enrollment. 

Additionally, Kozlowski is a member of the Leadership Genesee Class of 2004, and serves on numerous area boards and committees including: Chairman, Genesee County Chamber of Commerce Business Development Committee; Chairman, Genesee County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee; Member, Genesee County Empire Zone Board; and Member, Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) Economic Development Focus Group.  He is also a former columnist of a monthly business column for The Daily News in Batavia, NY.

Kozlowski is a resident of Clarence, NY, an adjunct graduate school professor for Medaille College, a former executive of Tops Markets, Inc. (1997-2000), and a retired member of the U.S. Air Force with 25 years of service as a commander, instructor, speechwriter, and program manager.
