Baseball Team Sweeps Niagara CCC

The Genesee Community College baseball team began its fall season with a sweep of Niagara CCC on Saturday. In game one, GCC dominated the Trailblazers, 15-1. Four pitchers combined to give up only one run on three hits for the Cougars. Andrew Van'tWout had two doubles and drove in four runs. Jeff Gmerek added a three run homer and scored three times for GCC.

In game two, Genesee needed to rally with four runs in the top of the seventh to secure the sweep. Steve Torrey got a base hit with two outs and two strikes to drive in the winning runs. Jamie Carmichael went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI's for the Cougars. GCC (2-0) will face Jamestown on Tuesday before heading out on the road on Saturday to face Mercyhurst NE and on Sunday to play at Alfred State.
