Batavia, NY- In the world of fashion, the right fabric is essential. Playing off current trends, the Fashion Business program at GCC invites students to put their creative energy to work in the “Design Our College Plaid Contest.” A cash prize of $100 is up for grabs along with bragging rights and the reward of having your plaid turned into clothing items that generate school spirit.

The contest is open to all GCC students. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

Entries must be submitted electronically to Project Manager Jessica O’Brien at jobrien5@my.genesee.edu. The entry should have the plaid design attached in .jpg format and include a PowerPoint of three slides maximum which explains what inspired the design. The title slide should include entrant’s name, phone number, email address and GCC Major.

The designs created must use the college colors. The college Marketing Communications office provides information about the exact colors, logo and font online at http://www.genesee.edu/home/offices/marcom/branding-manual/.

A panel of judges will choose the winner based on the creativity of the design and its adherence to the color criteria. The winning plaid will become the official plaid of the college and the property of the Fashion Business Program at GCC. It will be utilized to showcase GCC spirit in everything from ties to scarves, and other accessories and clothing.

“We can’t wait to see what the students create,” said Fashion Professor Donna Ehrhart. All general questions should be emailed to Ehrhart at djehrhart@genesee.edu.

For more information, contact Marketing Communications Associate Director Donna Rae Sutherland at (585) 343-0055 ext. 6616, or via email: dsutherland@genesee.edu.
