Batavia, NY- For thirty years he has inspired students and helped them achieve goals many never thought possible. The dedication and hard work of GCC Fashion Business Professor Rick Dudkowski, affectionately called Mr. D. by his students, has been recognized recently in two special ways.
Dudkowski received the Northeast Region Faculty Award from the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). The Award was presented at the ACCT’s Awards Gala in Chicago on October 25, 2014 attended by some two thousand people. “It felt like an Academy Awards event,” Dudkowski said.
He is no stranger to putting on special events. He has guided students for years as they develop the annual spring Fashion Show at GCC, which has grown to become the largest in Western New York. GCC now hosts two performances of the show, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, to accommodate the crowds.
In recognition of the ACCT award, New York State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer (61st District) also issued a proclamation in honor of Dudkowski. “The purpose of this Legislative Proclamation is to honor an individual of the State of New York whose purposeful endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in the community,” the proclamation states. It also notes that “Throughout his tenure, he has been a dedicated professor, success coach, colleague, civic leader, friend and a mentor to his students.”
Dudkowski has been lauded in the past twice with SUNY Chancellor’s Awards and works diligently to instill in students a sense of professionalism and the need to be good leaders and productive members of society.
Dudkowski and his wife, Kathy, live in the town of Clarence where Rick is active in his church, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as a Eucharistic Minister.
