Men's Lacrosse Announces 2014 Captains and Schedule

The No. 3 Genesee Community College men’s lacrosse coaching staff recently announced their captains and schedule for the 2014 season. Awarded the honor of leading the team this year are sophomores Johnny Astrologo (Mahopac, NY), Craig Seneca (Gowanda, NY) and Tyler Skowronski (Clarence, NY).
Astrologo, a defenseman, started in all 18 games last season and was selected to the Western New York Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team. He was second on the team with 59 takeaways and added 53 ground balls. This year he will be looked upon to lead the defensive unit and matchup with the opposing team’s best attackman.
Seneca, a goalie, played in seven games a year ago. He had an 80% save percentage in those games. He will be the starter in net this year after a solid fall season and will look to add to the great goaltending tradition at Genesee.
Skowronski played in 16 games a year ago at midfield and was selected to Region III All-Region First Team. He had 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points in his freshman campaign.
Genesee is a member of the WNYAC and Region III National Junior College Athletic Association. This year’s schedule is highlighted with home games against SUNY Delhi, and Nassau CC. Genesee will travel to Baltimore on spring break to play Howard CC and CCBC-Essex. Other important away games on the schedule include Onondaga CC and Monroe CC. Genesee will play all of its home games on their state of the art lighted turf field.
