The Genesee Community College men's basketball team gave up a 17-7 run to start the second half to Erie Community College on Tuesday night, and could not recover falling on the road by a final score of 98-89.
Naquil Jones scored a team high 24 points for the Cougars, who were out-rebounded 58-37 on the night including 25 offensive rebounds for the Kats.
After going into the half tied at 41, Genesee trailed by as much as 12 in the second.
The Cougars were able to cut the Erie lead down to three after Jones converted a three-point play with five minutes remaining to make it 82-79.
The Kats were able to ice the game at the free-throw line, converting 21 of 26 total free-throws in the game.
Ervin Mitchell finished with 23 points, Alastair Cole added 17 points, Redell Freeman dished out eight assists, grabbed six rebounds and scored six points and Jones also collected eight rebounds.
Genesee (19-7, 4-4) will end its three-game road stretch on Thursday night at Jamestown Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
