Cougars look to rebound against Erie on Thursday

A winning streak that dated back to early November came to an end last week for the Genesee Community College men’s basketball team, and back-to-back losses have the Cougars looking to rebound at home against Erie Community College on Thursday night.
A loss to Lakeland Community College on November 12th was followed by 14 wins in a row until the Cougars lost on the road at Niagara County Community College last Thursday night. Genesee then went to Monroe Community College on Saturday afternoon and dropped another Western New York Athletic Conference game to the Tribunes, falling to 1-2 in conference play this season.
Genesee (15-4, 1-2) begins a stretch in which five out of the next six games will be played at home.
Erie Community College (11-5, 2-0) has won its last five games including two WNYAC contests and will play its second consecutive conference game on the road.

Last time out:

Genesee lost a 96-75 contest to Monroe Community College last Saturday. After trailing by just two at the half, GCC went on a stretch of nearly five minutes without recording a field goal and trailed by as many as 23 points in the final period.
Ervin Mitchell, GCC’s leading scorer, was held to 5-13 shooting from the field and 17 points, well below his season average of 23.7 points per game. Naquil Jones and Da’Shawn Suber were also in double figures for the Cougars, scoring 15 and 11 points respectively.
Erie improved to 11-5 with a non-conference win over Niagara College (Canada) on Tuesday night. Previously, the Kats moved to 2-0 in WNYAC play with a 95-77 victory at Jamestown Community College.

What to watch for:
