GCC Personnel Appointments, Honors and New Hires

Genesee Community College Board of Trustees were delighted to learn that longtime GCC Fashion Professor, Rick Dudkowski was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Susan Makai, who founded Personal Best Model and Talent Agency.

Batavia, New York — Genesee Community College Board of Trustees were delighted to learn that longtime GCC Fashion Professor, Rick Dudkowski was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Susan Makai, who founded Personal Best Model and Talent Agency. The recognition occurred last month at the annual holiday luncheon, fashion show and auction that benefits the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York. Dudkowski joined the GCC faculty in 1984 and has twice been recognized for excellence in teaching and scholarship with two SUNY Chancellor’s Awards.

Heard about the appointment of new employees:
oDerek Payne is the new technical specialist and academic coordinator for GCC’s Upward Bound Program. Originally from Plattsburgh, NY, Payne was a counselor, director of student services and the director of international programs at a regional private secondary school. He also worked at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Upward Bound program as a tutor. He earned a Communication/Mass Media BS and School Counseling MSEd from SUNY Plattsburgh. He now resides in Rochester, NY.

oDr. James Brooks is GCC’s new instructor of psychology. He previously spent 14 years in Fort Worth, Texas at Tarrant Community College teaching traditional as well as online classes at introductory, upper level and graduate levels. He also served in several human service administrative positions, and worked as the school psychologist with Rochester City School District. He earned in BA in Sociology from St. John Fisher College and a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas in Austin.
