Women's Basketball will host Mercyhurst N.E. to open Conference Play

The Genesee Community College women's basketball team will welcome Mercyhurst North East to the Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium on Tuesday night for its first Western New York Athletic Conference game of the season. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The Lady Cougars (5-9) came up empty at the Community College of Rhode Island tournament last weekend, falling to Monroe College (83-46) and Lackawanna College (58-46).

Mercyhurst N.E. (8-5) began WNYAC play against Monroe Community College on January 9th. The Lady Saints fell to the Lady Tribunes, 56-55 but rebounded to beat Erie Community College, 64-53.


What to watch for:

Genesee is 4-4 at home this season.

The Lady Cougars are led in scoring by Shanell Glover (13.1 ppg) and Dashawna Jenifer (12.9 ppg).

As a team, Genesee averages 61.1 points per game and gives up an average of 70.9 points per game.


The Lady Saints are led in scoring by Sabrina Montgomery (8.9 ppg) and Aeryelle Perrin (8.2 ppg).

As a team, Mercyhurst N.E. scores an average of 64.8 points per game and gives up an average of 60.3 points per game.
