The Genesee Community College men's basketball team will host #4 Mercyhurst North East on Tuesday night in its first Western New York Athletic Conference game of the season. The two squads will tip at 8 p.m.
Genesee (14-2) is coming off of a two-win weekend at the Community College of Rhode Island tournament, including a win over #8 Monroe College, a Division I program. The Cougars edged Lackawanna College, 88-83 in their last contest of the tournament.
Mercyhurst N.E. (11-3) has lost its last two games, both against WNYAC opponents. The Saints fell to Monroe Community College on January 9th (77-68) and lost to Erie Community College (102-84) on January 11th.

After a 1-2 start to the season, the Cougars are currently on a 13 game winning streak.
Genesee has four players that average more than 10 points per game and two players in the top 40 in scoring in the country. Led by Ervin Mitchell (23.7 ppg / 11th in the country), Naquil Jones (21.1 ppg / 31st in the country), Alastair Cole (11.6 ppg) and Gabriel Burroughs (11.1 ppg) all contribute to the cause for the Cougars.
Genesee averages 92 points per game as a team and give up an average of 78.1 points per game.
The Saints have three players averaging double-digit points per game. Soutiri Sapnas (23.2 ppg) leads Mercyhurst N.E. and ranks 15th in the country in scoring average. Damon Jones (19.5 ppg) and Brandon Dawson (10.4 ppg) also help contribute.
The Saints as a team score an average of 97.8 points per game and allow an average of 86.1 points per game.
