Women's Basketball rolls to win over Davis

Renetta Fordam scored a team high 21 points and hit five three-point baskets to help the Genesee Community College women's basketball team to an 83-75 win over visiting Davis College on Tuesday night.

Genesee led by six after a half of play and Fordam hit back-to-back three's early in the second to give GCC a 49-39 lead. She extended a five-point lead to eight with a long-range basket with 1:30 remaining and Genesee hit late free throws to hang on.

Shanell Glover and Dashawna Jenifer each scored 16 points and Jenifer grabbed 13 rebounds. Heather Maloney, Breana Gleaton and Hillary Rivera each chipped in eight points and Rivera also collected nine rebounds.

Davis' Amber Wright put together a strong night, finishing with 41 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists.

The win for Genesee (3-6) is the third on the season and the Lady Cougars will host the Cougar Holiday Classic Tournament this Saturday and Sunday.
