Batavia, NY- Genesee Community College invites homeschooling families to visit the Arcade Campus Center to learn more about all that GCC has to offer. A Homeschool Family Open House is planned for Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Arcade Campus Center, 25 Edward Street, Arcade.

Homeschooled students have extensive opportunities to advance their education through GCC. Classes are offered in many subject areas and students under age 18 may take approved ACE (Accelerated College Enrollment) courses at a reduced tuition rate. GCC offers small class sizes with a low teacher to student ratio and excellent instructors. Families can also learn about how their student can earn the New York State High School Equivalency Diploma. Scholarship and financial aid information will also be available.

“We know homeschooling has become an attractive option for many families in the Arcade area,” said Dr. Deborah M. DiNoto, associate dean at the Arcade Campus Center. “We want these families to be aware of how GCC can enhance their child’s educational journey.” Families interested in attending the Open House are encouraged to register by calling (585) 492-5265 or emailing arcade@genesee.edu.

Spring semester at GCC begins January 13, 2014. Classes offered at the Arcade Campus Center cover a wide array of subject areas including English, Spanish, Math, Criminal Justice, Biology, Accounting, Art History, Ceramics and Digital Photography. Students can even have some fun in a new course being offered, Beginning Skiing and Snowboarding (PED155). Matthew Zabron will teach the course at Holiday Valley Ski Resort. There is also a Winterim Session that runs December 16, 2013 – January 10, 2014 featuring six courses that are 100% online.
