Volleyball splits four matches at Hagerstown Tournament

The Genesee Community College women's volleyball team went 2-2 in four matches this weekend at the Hagerstown Community College Tournament.

GCC started the weekend on Saturday by beating Frederick Community College, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17). In its next match, Genesee fell to Southern Maryland Community College, 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 23-25).

Brittany Besser had 16 aces and 27 digs in the two Saturday matches, Lindsey Thomas added 12 kills and six digs, Michelle Nagle tallied 34 kills, 18 digs and five aces, Nohema Garcia-Torres had 49 assists and seven aces and Leyinska Quiles-Torres added 26 kills and 28 digs.

On Sunday, The Lady Cougars fell in their first match to Northern Virginia Community College, 3-1 (25-19, 12-25, 24-26, 21-25). GCC ended the weekend by beating Allegany Community College, 3-1 (25-13, 25-22, 17-25, 26-24).

Thomas tallied 11 more kills and eight more digs, Besser added 22 digs to her weekend total, Nagle posted 30 more kills and 31 more digs, Leah Staley added 10 digs and five kills, Garcia-Torres had 64 assists and Chelsea Gerace chipped in 36 digs.

The weekend split sets Genesee's record at 17-20 overall on the year.
