Batavia, NY- In just eight weeks, students at Genesee Community College can earn three college credits, selecting from more than 40 different courses. Classes for this condensed session begin October 21 and run through December 13, 2013. The eight-week format is designed for students who need an accelerated course schedule to mesh with their busy lives and many responsibilities. It is particularly ideal for adult students who may not have the time to attend classes over a traditional 15-week semester.
GCC works to make classes accessible. Many are offered at convenient times at the College’s seven campus locations. There are also a number of classes available online. Many courses also follow the hybrid format which blends on-campus class time and/or laboratories with online lessons and homework delivery.
“Whether students are just starting their academic degrees or are looking for college credit to complete a degree or certificate, the eight week program can be a perfect solution,” Tanya Lane-Martin, GCC’s assistant dean for Enrollment Services and director of Admissions said. “We also find some students who want to retake a course to earn a better grade and they, too, find the eight week classes are perfect for them.”
Among GCC’s eight-week course offerings are: Fashion Trends and Design, Principles of Business, Management Principles, Introduction to Black and White Photography, Statistics, Public Speaking, and a variety of sports-related classes in everything from karate to badminton.
