Volleyball: Lakeland Tournament Recap

The Genesee Community College volleyball team split four matches on Friday at the Lakeland Community College Tournament this past weekend, falling to Cuyahoga Community College 2-0 (19-25, 21-25) to start the day, defeating Schoolcraft College 2-1 (25-19, 12-25, 15-13), defeating the host team Lakeland CC 2-0 (25-23, 25-20) and then dropping the final match of the day to Loraine County Community College, 2-0 (23-25, 12-25).
Lindsey Thomas had six kills, two assists and five aces, Michelle Nagle tallied 32 kills, four aces and 37 digs, Andrea Pursel had 15 kills, three aces and 17 digs, Leyinska Quiles-Torres finshed with 12 kills, one ace and 31 digs, Stephanie Maddox added 12 kills two aces and 36 digs, Nohema Garcia-Torres chipped in one kill, 34 assits, two aces and 27 digs and Chelsea Gerace totaled 39 digs.

On Saturday, the Lady Cougars defeated Mercyhurst North East 2-0 (25-17, 25-17), fell to St. Clair County Community College 2-0 (23-25, 13-25) and finished the weekend falling to Cuyahoga, 2-1 (28-26, 23-25, 7-15).

Nagle tallied 32 kills, one ace and 25 digs on day two, Thomas added 11 kills and eight digs, and Quiles-Torres had 20 kills, 35 digs and six aces.

The Lady Cougars are now 7-11 overall on the season and will host Jamestown Community College on Tuesday night for their next contest, beginning at 6 p.m.
