Pursel Hurls No-Hitter, Softball wins Two

Andrea Pursel threw a no-hitter for the Genesee Community College softball team on Saturday afternoon, completing a two game sweep over visiting Columbia-Greene Community College.

Genesee won game one 7-6. The Lady Cougars scored three times in the bottom of the first to take an early lead and added a run in the second, two runs in the third and the eventual game-winning run in the fifth.

Chelsea Lynch scored three runs and added two singles and Yui Sotah scored a run and went 1-3 at the plate.

Pursel shut down Columbia-Greene in game two, allowing no hits, three walks and struck out four. Genesee won game two, 9-0.

The Lady Cougars extended a 2-0 lead with a seven-run fourth inning, to take a 9-0 lead.

Brittnee Hallett-Jonathan scored two runs in game two, Miki Kawaguchi went 2-3, scored a run and drove in two runs and Sotah went 2-3 with two RBI's and a run scored.

Genesee improves to 8-14 overall and will host Mercyhurst North East for a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 3 p.m.
