Batavia, NY- Aspiring artists and actors have a chance to get their feet wet with summer classes at Genesee Community College in Arcade. From Basic Drawing to the Fundamentals of Acting, there are a variety of classes being offered during Summer Session 2, which runs from July 8 - August 10, 2013.
Local thespian Ray Boucher will lead instruction in several courses including Public Speaking, Fundamentals of Acting and a Theater Practicum. Boucher holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Theatre Arts from SUNY Brockport and has appeared onstage in a number of regional productions at the Buffalo Laboratory Theatre, the Alleyway Theatre in Buffalo, as well as Rochester Theatre Arts. The Theatre Practicum will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. The Acting class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00-9:25 p.m.
Drawing I, for those interested in the visual arts, will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Through the Genesee Promise Plus scholarship program some students may be eligible to take these classes at no charge. GCC offers scholarships to high school juniors, graduating seniors, and—new this summer—adults who have never before taken a college class. Juniors and adult learners are eligible to take up to four credit hours, seniors may take up to eight. Promise Plus applications must be submitted by June 14, 2013.
