GCC Launches Cutting-Edge Program

Students Can Pursue Fast Growing Profession Online

Batavia, NY- Genesee Community College announces the addition of a new concentration designed to meet the needs of a fast-growing career field: Supply Chain Management (SCM). The U.S. Labor Department forecasts 26% growth in SCM jobs through the year 2020. GCC’s SCM, a concentration of the Business Administration program, is available through online coursework only.

SCM deals directly with many facets of business operations: procurement, manufacture, distribution, warehousing, inventory and customer service. Supply chain managers engineer the successful coordination of all these elements. Today’s sophisticated business savvy companies rely as much on their supply chain personnel as they do their CFO to positively impact their bottom line.

The SCM program at GCC includes fundamental coursework in Business and Marketing Principles, Communications, Accounting and Business Law. In addition, students will learn essentials of Business Logistics, Transportation and Distribution, Operations and Production, Purchasing, Inventory and Warehouse Management, International Transportation and Logistics and Strategic SCM.

Lead faculty Dennis Sullivan is a seasoned supply chain professional currently serving as president, vice president or principal with three management consulting firms including Supply Chain Optimizers, LLC. “We’ve developed an excellent curriculum for the SCM program at GCC,” Sullivan said. “It addresses all the key elements of SCM. Students will be prepared for a variety of career options when they complete this program.”

With top notch faculty, high-end technology and affordable tuition, GCC’s SCM program promises a rewarding educational experience.
