Batavia, NY- Genesee Community College will welcome this year’s honorary Trek the Trail Walkin’ ‘n Talkin’ chairman, Lou Piccone, to the Batavia campus on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. The former Buffalo Bill will tour campus, meet a few student scholarship recipients, and speak at a press conference at 11:30 a.m., which features the GCC Cougar Dance and Cheer Team in the central Forum.
Piccone was a wide receiver and kickoff returner for the Buffalo Bills from 1977 through 1982 and also played for the New York Jets. During his NFL career, Piccone caught 100 passes for 1,380 yards and six touchdowns. He also attended and played football at West Liberty State College.
“We’re delighted that Lou Piccone will join us for our Trek the Trail, Walkin’ n’ Talkin Scholarship fundraiser, and I’m excited to give him a tour of our campus ahead of time,” said Russ Romano, Trek the Trail committee chair and GCC Foundation Board member. “He brings a level of enthusiasm that raises awareness on how this event serves a multitude of terrific purposes. It’s not only good exercise and a lot of fun, but it builds camaraderie among students, supporters, athletes and staff. We are also ‘paying it forward’ for the next class of GCC students and giving back to our community. Talk about a win – win – win situation!”
