Cougars give up late run, lose at Jamestown

E.J. Blackwell hit six first half three-pointers for the Genesee Community College men's basketball team on the road at Jamestown Community College on Thursday night, but the Cougars fell to their Western New York Athletic Conference foe, 93-75.

Blackwell helped GCC to a first half lead that was 43-37 at the intermission.

Jamestown started the second period on a 6-2 run to cut into the Genesee lead, and took the lead halfway through the final half. Trailing 74-73 with just over six-minutes to play, the Cougars gave up a 19-2 run to Jamestown to end the night that put the game out of reach. The Hawks went 9-18 from three-point range in the second half.

Vaughn Boler had a strong night for Genesee scoring a team high 25 points and grabbing six rebounds. Blackwell finished with 20 points and five assists, Donte Meredith chipped in 12 points and Joe Gray and Terryl Coombs each added eight points.

Genesee drops to 3-6 in conference play and 12-13 overall on the season. They will host Jamestown Community College-Olean on Saturday afternoon for a 1pm start.
