The Genesee Community College women's basketball team found themselves in an early hole on Thursday night at Erie Community College and were not able to dig out of it, falling 89-37 in their Western New York Athletic Conference opener.
The Lady Kats did not trail in the game and built a 36-point, 52-16 lead at the halftime break.
Paige Hennings scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Genesee, who were outscored 52-10 in the paint in the game.
Dominique Davis and Dashawna Jenifer each added nine points for the Lady Cougars, but 42 turnovers on the night prevented GCC from gaining any kind of momentum.
Genesee falls to 0-1 in conference play and are now 1-10 on the season. They will head on the road tomorrow to participate in the Community College of Rhode Island tournament this Saturday and Sunday.
