The Genesee Community College men’s basketball team defeated the visiting St. John Fisher College Cardinals JV squad on Saturday afternoon, by the final score of 71-53.
The Cougars started the game on a 16-6 run with tremendous play inside from Terryl Coombs. Coombs had a total of 15 rebounds and added four assists to get the Cougar offense going. Genesee had a 37-21 lead at halftime.
Coming off of a 37-point performance against the ASA last weekend, GCC’s Vaughn Boler scored 26 points and grabbed five rebounds to help the Cougars notch their seventh victory of the season. E.J. Blackwell added 13 points for the Cougars to go with his five rebounds and two steals. Donte Meredith added eight assists to go along with his seven points and five rebounds. Stanley Peacock, Maurice Bailey, Denzel Thomas and Malik Brown all played well for GCC coming off the bench.
Ryan Hewitt had a team high 13 points for St. John Fisher in a losing effort.
The Cougars (7-5) will be back in action on January 4th when they travel to Cayuga Community College.
