Batavia, NY- Community residents and music enthusiasts should save the date for the not-to-be-missed Valentine’s Day performance by Natalia Zukerman, a unique slide guitarist, singer, song writer and visual artist whose musical influences include folk, jazz, blues, rock, bluegrass, country and classical music. Zukerman has been described on public radio as “an example of the finest Americana” as she combines her guitar playing with seductive vocals, unapologetic lyrics and sharp wit.

A resident of Brooklyn, NY, Zukerman brings her “urban restlessness” and “rootsy warmth” to the Stuart Steiner Theater at Genesee Community College on Thursday, February 14, 2013. The Valentine’s Day concert will appropriately be called, “Dusty Valentine,” and begins at 7 p.m.

Batavian Loren Penman, continues her ongoing connection and commitment to our community by organizing this concert as a follow-up to Zukerman’s performance at the Silver Lake Institute last August. Audiences were so enthralled by that ‘blue moon’ concert on August 31st that Penman wanted to bring audiences another opportunity to hear Zukerman’s eclectic music, including tunes from her newest album, “Gas Station Roses.”

“I can assure you, there will be no better way to enjoy Valentine’s Day in Batavia than with the rich musical talent and engaging personality of Natalia Zukerman,” Penman said. “I encourage everyone to join us—come with a date, a spouse, a friend or come alone—it will be a perfect evening.”

Penman’s penchant for community support continues as she helped coordinate a fundraising aspect to the event. All proceeds from the concert will be dedicated to two Genesee Community College student clubs, specifically the Criminal Justice and Veterinary Technology student organizations will benefit from the program.

Ticket prices are adults $12; GCC alumni, seniors, staff $10; and GCC students with valid ID are $6.
