After his time there, he taught college composition and literature as an adjunct professor at Finger Lakes Community College from 2007 until 2010, and at Genesee Community College from 2008 until 2010.
There are numerous facets about working at GCC that Tom enjoys. “There are so many wonderful aspects of working at the College,” he said. “I think one of my favorite aspects is working collaboratively with so many talented and intelligent individuals on a multitude of technical projects. I know that our collaborative efforts are beneficial to the students we serve, and having been a student at Genesee Community College, I understand just how important those efforts are. My involvement with these projects also continually expands my technical knowledge and helps me with my own professional development, and for that I am grateful.”
Tom earned both his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from The College at Brockport. He resides in Holley, NY with his wife, Jodie and their son, Nathaniel. Outside of his professional life, Tom enjoys spending time with his family, reading, writing, playing guitar and studying math, “logic and set theory, especially.”
Genesee Community College is pleased to announce Taylor Schutt has been named Student of the Month for November 2012. Taylor is a Digital Art major at GCC and is currently serving as the co-vice president for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
A Maryvale Senior High School graduate, Taylor originally chose Genesee based on the Fashion program, but changed her major during her second semester, realizing her true desire.
“The new Fashion Design program actually spiked my interest in GCC when I attended the Fashion BOCES program in West Seneca at my high school. But I switched my major in the second semester to Digital Art after realizing my true desire was in the graphics field,” Taylor said.
Upon graduation from GCC, Taylor has ambitions of participating in the Disney College Program. She would then like to transfer to a four-year college to continue her pursuit of a degree in Graphic Design and hopes to combine fashion and digital art to start a career either freelancing, or with a design company.
Taylor is 19-years-old and the daughter of Bill and Laurie Schutt, and the older sister to Traci Schutt. She is a Cheektowaga, NY native and is enjoying her experience at GCC.
“I truly love the community of people, students, and staff. I constantly feel supported and inspired to follow my dreams.”
