Swimming and Diving: Herkimer Invite Recap

The Genesee Community College swimming and diving team took part in the Herkimer County Community College Fall Invite on Saturday, with the men’s squad swimming to a first place finish and the women finishing second.
Yusuke Inami added three more first place finishes to his season, topping the 400 yard IM, 100 yard freestyle and the 200 yard butterfly. Randi Rudnik added a top finish for GCC, pacing the thirteen-swimmer 200 yard breaststroke race with a finishing time of 2:58.97. Jacob Finkney swam to two second-place finishes, in the 1650 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle. Ie Makato also added a second place finish, swimming runner up in the 200 yard backstroke.
Melissa Krause earned the lone individual first place finish for the Lady Cougars, topping the 200 yard breaststroke ahead of teammate Kylie Bank. Krause was also part of the first place 400 yard medley relay team that included Bank, Brianne Strong and Calla Wolfley. Strong added second place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle.
