Batavia, NY - Whether they’ve been naughty or nice, students who reside in the College Village dormitories at Genesee Community College will get a break from the stress of final exams when Santa visits a little early this year. Santa and his better half, along with their elf kin, will bring a sack full of goodies to dorm residents on Monday, December 10, 2012.
College Village resident assistants (RAs) dress up as Santa, Mrs. Clause and the Elves to bring some joy and a little gift to each resident, as the students hunker down for final exams and deal with deadlines, packing for home, and all the other usual holiday situations that sometimes leave little room for holiday cheer under the tree.
“Our students LOVE this program, and the staff really enjoys being able to do this,” said Shannon Scheening, CV’s residence life graduate assistant. “We know it helps breaks the tension as the semester winds down, and sends them off to celebrate the holidays with a little bit more joy.”
GCC’s College Village offers fully-furnished double and single apartments and can accommodate from one to five occupants. Kitchen, living room and bedroom furniture is provided, as are major appliances and telephone, cable and wireless internet service. Residents also enjoy a number of programs and activities that keep them engaged with the college community, and help them explore surrounding cities such as Rochester and Buffalo.
