College Radio Station Plans Family Halloween Event at GCC
Batavia, NY- Candy, costumes, pumpkins and bounce houses—everything that screams Halloween will be featured during a fundraising event for WGCC (90.7 FM), the student-run radio station at Genesee Community College in Batavia. The family-oriented Play, Eat and Trick-or-Treat indoor party in GCC’s Forum is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
Admission is $3 per child (adults and infants are FREE) and includes a trick-or-treat area for costumed children to collect candy, two bounce houses, games, face painting, popcorn and punch. Paid entrants also get a raffle ticket that could win them an Apple iPad! Pumpkin painting, pizza and drinks will be available for a small charge, and a Chinese auction/basket raffle will feature some great goodies: a one night stay at Buffalo’s highly-rated hotel Mansion on Delaware Avenue, a pair of Beats by Dre HD headphones, a Tyler Ennis-autographed Buffalo Sabres program, and certificates from area restaurants. All proceeds benefit the non-commercial radio station, which offers students hands-on broadcasting and public outreach experience.
“I am so happy we can bring an event like this to GCC,” said radio station faculty advisor Valerie Bello. “Part of WGCC’s mission is to reach out to the community we serve, and hopefully, by providing a fun, safe and warm Halloween experience for families, we are doing just that!”
