Volleyball wins at home

The Genesee Community College volleyball team defeated the visiting Tribunes from Monroe Community College on Thursday Evening. The Cougars lost the opening set but came back and defeated the Tribunes in the final three sets to win the match. 

MCC won the opening set by the score of 25-19, a set in which they never trailed and had a lead as large as nine points. The Cougars then won the second set 25-23, a set they never trailed in. GCC would pull away to win the third set after opening up a six point lead midway through. The fourth and final set saw both teams giving up two and three point leads until the Cougars tied the match at 20-20. Genesee then took the lead and held MCC off to get the match point. 

Karin Davis led the way for the Cougars with 24 assists and seven kills. Michelle Nagle had three digs and 12 kills. Carrie Blunt had two blocks and eight digs and Stephanie Maddox had four kills, one assist and 11 digs for Genesee. 

The Cougars next game will take place in the Grand Rapids Community College Tournament this weekend in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
