Arcade, New York — The Arcade Campus Center of Genesee Community College is pleased to announce the Spring 2012 Student and Instructor of the Semester. Each semester, one student and one instructor are awarded the honor for their academic or teaching performance. Ray Boucher of Buffalo has been selected as the Instructor of the Semester and Priscilla Behen of Caneadea has been selected as the Student of the Semester.
A seasoned actor of both stage and screen, Mr. Boucher is an instructor of English, theater and public speaking. He has a bachelor in acting from SUNY Brockport and is an aspiring writer. Comments from students included, “He is always here to help and he made us work hard and get better at speaking to groups of people.” Mr. Boucher is an integral part of the Arcade Campus Center team.
Ms. Behen is a freshman Human Services major; this is her second semester at the College. After earning an associate’s degree, she is planning to continue on to a four-year school and achieve a Master’s degree in Social work. Comments from her instructors included, “She always keeps the class on their toes, and helps other students when needed. She always has something nice to say, even when we know it is not a fun project. She helped me through some hard times in both school and in life. She was just a great person to have around.”
Both awards are based upon nominations submitted by either instructors or students. In the case of more than one nomination, each of the five staff members (Campus Center associate dean, secretary and three associates) each cast one vote to select the award winner.
The Arcade Campus Center is located at 25 Edward Street, Arcade. Summer Session I starts Tuesday, May 29, 2012. For further information please call 585-492-5265.
