The Genesee Community College women's lacrosse team earned the first victory in the two-year history of the program on Thursday afternoon, defeating Niagara County Community College on the road, 11-10.
The halftime score was 5-5 and Genesee came out to win 11-10. GCC held The biggest lead in the game in the first six minutes of the second half when they led 8-5.
Anna Modera had five goals and six ground balls and Arielle Lambert added five goals and five ground balls.
Hikaru Kishimoto scored the first goal off the game.
The Lady Cougars controlled 12 of 21 draws and Kishimoto, Lambert and Modera were the midfielders who controlled the draw.
Karen Brannon, Alicia Lewis and Stephanie McVicker stepped up and played strong defense to help keep NCCC out of their offensive zone.
Sarah Bosa had a great game in the goal saving 12 shots.
With the win, Genesee improves to 1-9 on the season and will host Herkimer County Community College on Saturday morning at 11am.
