Warsaw, New York--Five Warsaw-area students who sought information about financial assistance during the second annual College Goal Sunday event that occurred at the Warsaw Campus Center of Genesee Community College in February have been awarded scholarships.
The students and their families took part in a national program organized locally by the Wyoming County YMCA, which offers free information and assistance to those looking for financial assistance for college. The $500 scholarships are awarded by the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation through the annual College Goal program, which coincides with the Superbowl.
This year, financial aid volunteers from GCC helped more than 30 applicants apply for tuition assistance, and the HESC chose the winners from that pool of candidates.
GCC Warsaw congratulates the winners from the Warsaw event: Timothy Lindsey, Larissa Newland, Kelsey Ames, Luke Conley and Brittany Smith.
