Women's Basketball drops first Conference Game

The Genesee Community College women's basketball team fell on the road at Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday night in their first Western New York Athletic Conference game of the season, 67-58. In a back and forth contest, the Lady Cougars came up short despite a great effort from a number of players.

In a back and forth contest, the Lady Cougars came up short despite a great effort from a number of players. Kayla Golden (Lackawanna, NY) led the way for GCC with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jalessa Rogers (Syracuse, NY) scored a season high 17 points and Jasmine Armstead (Rochester, NY) chipped in with 11 points.

The Lady Cougars fall to 4-13 overall on the season and 0-1 in the early part of conference play. They will travel to the Community College of Rhode Island tournament this weekend and play the host team on Saturday afternoon at 5pm.
