Batavia, New York- Community residents should save the date for Genesee Community College’s Spring Arts Festival to be held in the Forum of the Batavia Campus on Tuesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 29, 2012. A wide array of professional artists will welcome community members of all ages to experience a variety of free art workshops in celebration of Art Appreciation Month. From drawing to pottery, book binding to photography, there will be something for every artistic interest at GCC’s Spring Arts Festival. All workshops and performances are free and open to the public.
On Tuesday, March 27, the festival will run from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and will feature local artists presenting workshops on Origami, bookbinding, painting, drawing, pottery, needle felting, drum making and photography. On Thursday, March 29, the festival continues with a playwriting workshop by playwright Jeffery Sweet, as well a performance of his “You Only Shoot the Ones You Love.”
“This is our opportunity to celebrate the arts here at GCC. Faculty, staff, students and members of the community will be able to participate in a variety of art mediums through the workshops,” Moi Dugan, assistant professor of Ceramics and 3-Dimensional Design said. “We encourage everyone with an interest in learning about a new technique or experiencing a new art form, to come out to GCC in March to celebrate Art Appreciation Month.”
