Batavia, New York— The Genesee Center for the Arts at Genesee Community College is holding open auditions for two performances, scheduled for the spring of 2012. Auditions for God’s Favorite, and children’s theater The Princess and the Goblin are scheduled for Wednesday, December 7 and Thursday, December 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the Stuart Steiner Theatre at the Batavia Campus. These auditions are open to the public and all ages and types of actors are welcome. Auditions will include script reading from both shows.
God's Favorite is Neil Simon's modern tale loosely based on the Book of Job. Joe Benjamin is a wealthy and respected businessman living with his family in suburban Long Island. God and Satan make a bet and God puts his trust in Joe to keep his faith. God's messenger, sent to test Joe's faith, is a wise cracking guy from Queens. This play was written in 1973 during a rough time in Simon's personal life after the death of his wife. Simon poses some large questions about life, but never loses his wonderful sense of humor. God’s Favorite, by Neil Simon is scheduled for March 29- March 30 and a matinee on April 1, 2012. Evening rehearsals start in January 2012.
The Princess and the Goblin, by Stuart Patterson, is a magical tale of young Princess Irene finding the strength to take on the world which has proved to be one of the most enduring and influential of the great 19th century children's classics. Patterson's acclaimed stage version is packed with fun and adventure while retaining the depth and visionary power of the original book. Children’s Theatre production of The Princess and the Goblin by Peter Patterson is scheduled for April 18-20 and one evening performance April 20, 2012. Mid-day rehearsals start in January 2012.
