Batavia, NY – Genesee Community College Fashion Business students will gain first-hand knowledge of the ever-changing and fast paced fashion industry. On Wednesday, November 16 fashion students will experience a traveling fashion show from Williamsville-based Tony Walker and Company, one of Western New York’s premier fashion retailers. The fashion show will take place at the Batavia Campus in T119 from 1:30-3:30pm.
In addition to the traveling fashion show, Tony Walker and Company will provide guest speakers and a seminar for students eager to learn the dynamic fashion industry. Following the seminar, Tony Walker and Company will show students their latest fashions and trends.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our Fashion Business students to learn from people who are thriving in the business,” Rick Dudkowski, professor of Fashion Business said. “Our students really achieve a competitive advantage with these types of experiential learning opportunities. They not only learn from real professionals but also gain valuable networking and career skills.”
GCC students in Fashion Business (formerly known as Fashion merchandising), now have two tracks of learning to choose from when they enroll in Fashion Business. Students can choose from the traditional Fashion Merchandising concentration or the new Fashion Design concentration. GCC fashion students also produce and plan a wildly popular fashion show each spring which has grown to be the largest fashion show in Western New York.
