The Genesee Community College Women’s Soccer team earned an impressive 3-1 road win at Herkimer County Community College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Cougars played what Head Coach Charlie Woods considered, “the best game of the season.”
The Genesee defense played very well, not allowing a Herkimer shot in the first half. Ali Cashmore (Akron, NY) put GCC out in front in the 18th minute when she scored at the penalty spot off of a nice pass from Jessica Laudico (Holley, NY). Marrissa Pecora (Penfield, NY) made it 2-0 in the 35th minute, cashing in on a nice cross from Katie Smith (Akron, NY).

A much more even second half of play resulted in a lot of back and forth action. The Lady Cougars were able to strike again late, when Laudico followed up her own shot to beat the Generals goalkeeper in the 78th minute.
Herkimer broke the shutout with a late second half goal, but Genesee was able to hold on for the 3-1 win.

GCC improves to 8-9 on the season and have now won 3 straight. Their next match will be their final home game at 5pm on Thursday, October 20th against Bryant and Stratton College.
