Dr. Sunser Reads to Childcare Center Children as part of National Read for the Record

Batavia, New York —Dr. James Sunser, president of Genesee Community College, read to children at the GCCA Child Care Center this morning, along with millions of readers across the nation as part of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record.

Batavia, New York —Dr. James Sunser, president of Genesee Community College, read to children at the GCCA Child Care Center this morning, along with millions of readers across the nation as part of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record. This nationwide campaign brings adults and children together to break a world record for the largest shared reading experience on a single day. Today, Dr. Sunser, along with thousands of other adults, read Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, is Jumpstart’s world record breaking campaign that brings children and adults together to read the same book, on the same day, in homes and communities all over the world.. Since its inception in 2006, the campaign has reached more than 5 million children and more than 800,000 books have been donated to children in low-income neighborhoods. Located at the Batavia campus, the GCCA Child Care Center offers complete childcare services for infants six weeks to preschool aged children. The Center is open from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday following the academic calendar. The Center has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals.
