Batavia, New York—Genesee Community College will present its second year of Student One Acts in the Stuart Steiner Theatre, October 13-15 at 7:30pm and October 16 at 2:00pm. The Forum Players will present six one-act plays: The Philadelphia, The Second Beam, and The Fifteen-Minute Hamlet, directed by Norm Gayford, GCC English professor, and Foreplay, or the Art of the Fugue, Naomi in the Living Room, and Blind Date, directed by Maryanne Arena, director of fine and performing arts at GCC.
One Acts highlight the creative abilities of the Forum Players students in their field of study of performance theatre and stagecraft, as well as some local community-theatre actors. The cast for the “One Acts” features Brittany Bryson (Mt. Morris), Mary Conable (Warsaw), Patrick Dodge (Warsaw), Tyler Eldred (Dansville), Alex Farley (Corfu), Margaret Gayford (Warsaw), Emily Jones (Waterloo), Lucine Kauffman (Elba), Sarah Lawson (East Bethany), Ben Liebrand (Rochester), Nikole Marone (Batavia), Peggy Marone (Batavia), Tara Pocock ( Batavia ), Sara Stabley (Perry), Bobby Steeves (Albion) and Jessica Yost (Albion).
Between each of the One Acts will be various songs performed by the cast and two dance solos by Tara Pocock from SUNY Brockport. This portion of the show is also directed by Maryanne Arena, choreographed by Patti Simmons. The musical director is Lauren Picarro-Hoerbelt and the pianist is Jeffrey Meyer Fischer.
Ed Hallborg, Technical Theater director at GCC, designed the sound and lighting and created the One Acts sets with the assistance of his GCC stagecraft students.
“An incredible amount of talent is exhibited by our students here at Genesee, both on stage during a performance and behind the scenes,” Maryanne Arena noted. “The One Acts really highlight the creative abilities of our students who worked very hard to bring this to our patrons.”
General admission ticket prices for Student One Acts are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for high school students, senior citizens (55+) and GCC faculty and staff, and $3.00 for Genesee students with a valid ID. This performance is appropriate for ages 16+.
