Women's Volleyball Wins Home Opener

The Genesee Community College Women's Volleyball team won their home opener on Thursday night, in 4 sets against Erie County Community College. In the opening set the Cougars trailed at one point 6-2 before rallying to take the lead and the eventual set 25-23.

In the opening set the Cougars trailed at one point 6-2 before rallying to take the lead and the eventual set 25-23. Set two was all GCC, who never trailed and won 25-16. The Cougars trailed most of the way in the third set, dropping it 18-25. In a close fourth set the Cougars built a lead before watching it close to two, eventually taking the set 25-23.

Paige Tilert (Derby, NY) and Karin Davis lead the way for the Cougars with five aces a piece. Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY) tallied five kills and Hannah Scott-McGrail (Batavia, NY) chipped in the four kills. Maria Antsupova (Ozersk, Russia) lead the way with 29 digs.

The Cougars stay unbeaten in conference play (3-0) and will play once again on Friday, September 16th at 1pm at the Lakeland Community College Tournament.
