Batavia, New York — Genesee Community College ‘s Career Services Center will host a ‘Networking Your Way to a Job’ workshop on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. The workshop will be held at the Batavia Campus of Genesee Community College from 12:45 -2 p.m. in room T202. This event is free and open to the public.

Presented by Career Services Center Director, John McGowan, this workshop is ideal for all students and community members interested in developing new contacts and networks. Due to the changing economy, it is essential for job seekers to use their networking skills. Unfortunately for some job seekers, many job openings are never published. Learning how and why to network will enhance job seeking strategies and connect to more opportunities in the job market.

“Networking is an essential part of growing as a professional and can really help when looking for a new job,” John McGowan said. “Knowing how to network and using your connections to your advantage can give you the competitive edge over other job candidates.”

Interested participants should RSVP by calling the GCC Career Services Office at 585-345-6888, by emailing slburns@genesee.edu or registering online at www.genesee.edu/career/events .
