The Genesee Community College Men's soccer team took on the Monroe Community College Tribunes on a chilly wet day in Rochester on Wednesday afternoon, and came away with a 2-2 tie after double overtime.
The Cougars took the lead 19 minutes into the first half after Dom Francis' sublime cross set Sean Brettel up for a perfectly timed header after beating his marker and the on rushing keeper. The Cougars only held the lead for six minutes before the tribunes tied the game at 1-1.
It was not long before the Cougars regained the lead from a direct free kick by Josh Gray. Gray curled a beautiful shot over the wall and into the top corner.
MCC scored early in the second half after a lobbed ball beat the keeper to tie the game up at 2-2. That was the end of the scoring through 2 overtime periods when both teams had chances to seal the game.
The Cougars play next on Thursday, September 8th at 7pm at home to Erie CC.
