The Genesee Community College Women's Soccer team lost their first match of the season in a 2-1 game against Broome Community College on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams played a scoreless first half in temperatures of around 90 degrees. The Lady Cougars got on the board first in the second half when sophomore Jessica Laudico scored on a one timer from Ali Cashmore to beat the BCC Hornets goalkeeper.

The Hornets would score the next two goals off of throw in's and uncontested shots from 20 or more yards out. Despite late pressure, The Lady Cougars were unable to find the equalizer.

"We were putting pressure on the last  twenty minutes but just couldn't put it in the back of the net," said head coach Charlie Woods.

Genesee (1-1) will return home on Tuesday, September 6th to host Monroe Community College at 6pm.
