Genesee Community College Appoints New Associate Dean at Albion Campus Center

Genesee Community College is pleased to announce Gloria Morgan has been named the new associate dean of the Albion Campus Center. She follows retiring dean, Allen Kidder, who retired in the spring of 2011.

Genesee Community College is pleased to announce Gloria Morgan has been named the new associate dean of the Albion Campus Center. She follows retiring dean, Allen Kidder, who retired in the spring of 2011. Gloria brings a wealth of educational and institutional advancement experience to the Albion Campus and to the entire Genesee community.
Ms. Morgan comes to Genesee with over 31 years in the field of education. In her latest position, she has served as a professor of Office and Computer Programs at Monroe Community College since 1996. Also at Monroe, she served as department chairperson for the Office and Computer Programs department as well as the Office Technology program coordinator. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor in the School of Management at Nazareth College. She previously served as an assistant professor at SUNY Brockport’s Educational Opportunity Center as well as an instructor at Rochester Business Institute (now Everest College).
Ms. Morgan has an abundance of experience in education, from managing departments to grant writing, to program development and faculty mentoring. With a strong commitment to student success, she was a mentor for the African-American Women’s Mentoring Connection at MCC. She has also been an advisor for course and career counseling.
Familiar with the surrounding region, Ms. Morgan attended Albion Schools from kindergarten to high school, graduating with honors. Her family members still reside in Kent, NY. She is also a 1978 graduate of Genesee Community College.
Ms. Morgan’s education includes earning an Associate’s degree from GCC, a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Nazareth College and is currently completing her Doctorate in Education in Executive Leadership at St. John Fisher College.
Community involvement is an important aspect of Gloria Morgan’s life. She has sat on a multitude of community board groups and has volunteered with several groups throughout the Rochester region. She believes in the value of professional development through affiliations and is currently a member of the Monroe County Business Educators’ Association, a member of the New York State Business Teacher’s Association and a member of the National/International Business Education Association.
“The search committee considered an excellent pool of candidates for the Albion associate dean position,” Jim Simon, dean of the Medina Campus Center and chair of the selection committee said. “Gloria Morgan definitely stood out as an accomplished professor and administrator in higher education who has strong ties to the Albion community and to Genesee Community College.”
