The Rosalie “Roz” Steiner Art Gallery, inside the Genesee Center for the Arts, will host award-winning artist John Kuchera’s The Joy of Doing, a commemorative collection of work spanning his entire artistic career. At 80 years young, John Kuchera has illustrated over 75 books and has exhibited his work in over 50 shows spanning from Chicago to Maine. The Joy of Doing runs July 13 through September 3, 2011 with an opening reception on Thursday, July 21 at 1:00pm.

From painting Macy’s Day Parade balloons to creating Dick Tracy cartoon villains, working at American Greeting cards –where he met in his wife– to illustrating books such as “Golf Sonnets” by James Long Hale– Kuchera Art: The Joy of Doing exhibit promises to enrich the new visual space of the Roz Steiner Art Gallery while enthralling its visitors and viewers with a dynamic show.

“Although the summer months at the College can be quiet,” Emily Pfeiffer, gallery manager said. “The Center for the Arts still has a wealth of artistic events to entertain all interests. John Kuchera’s exhibit really exemplifies the notion that you’re never too old to take advantage of your artistic talents.”
