Golf Finishes 4th at Cayuga

On Friday, the Genesee Golf team travelled to Highland Park GC in Auburn, NY for the Cayuga CC Invitational. The Cougars finished a disappointing fourth in an 11 team field shooting a score of 331. According to Coach Tucker “they just couldn't seem to figure out the greens.

On Friday, the Genesee Golf team travelled to Highland Park GC in Auburn, NY for the Cayuga CC Invitational. The Cougars finished a disappointing fourth in an 11 team field shooting a score of 331.

According to Coach Tucker “they just couldn't seem to figure out the greens. Tee to green [Genesee] played strong during tough conditions, but they left a higher finish on the short grass.”

Freshman Kyle Harman (Orchard Park, NY) and sophomore Matt Ferdinand (Rome, NY) each shot a score of 81, while freshman Corey Kocent (Batavia, NY) shot 83. Sophomores Alex Muench (Alden, NY) and Mark DeCook (Seneca Castle, NY) each shot 86, and Adam Bishop (Pembroke, NY) also participated.

Monroe CC won the event with a score of 307, Onondoga CC finished second with 318, and Mohawk Valley finished third with a 323.

Genesee will compete for the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Championship title tomorrow Saturday 4/23 at Willowbrook golf course in Lockport, NY.
