The Men’s Lacrosse team defeated Finger Lakes CC 24-2 Saturday afternoon. The game which was originally scheduled to be played at Finger Lakes was moved to Genesee due to field conditions. The win is the team’s 12th straight; as they advance to 12-1 on the season and 11-1 in Region III play. Leading the way for the Cougars was freshman attack Connor Latimer (Whitby, ON) who scored four goals and assisted on six others for 10 points. It is the second straight game where Latimer has put up double digit points.
Freshman goalie Zack Wilson (Lewis Center, OH) led the defense in shutting down the Finger Lakes offense, as he stopped 11 of 13 shots for 85% save percentage. Special teams again played an important factor as the Cougars went 4-for-6 with the man advantage.
Freshman midfielder Christian Reiller (Salamanca, NY) also had four goals on day in addition to his three assists. There was trio of Cougars who each netted three goals; they were Will Mulcahy (Batavia, NY), Chip Chapman (Batavia, NY), and Geahnew Printup (Tuscarora, NY). Additionally, Mulcahy had two assists, while Chapman and Printup each assisted on a goal. Freshman midfielder Spencer Halliwell-Allen (St. Catherines, ON) had six total points coming in the form of two goals and four assists.
The lacrosse team will face Niagara CCC at home Tuesday April 26, 2011, with a 7:30 pm start time. The game will follow a Women’s Lacrosse game versus Niagara that begins at 5:00 pm.
